Does your Dog have Brightlingsea’s waggiest tail?

Or does it look great done up in Fancy Dress?

There are plenty of fun categories that you and your four-legged friend can enter at Brightlingsea’s Companion Dog show, part of the annual Town Show being held at Brightlingsea Community Centre on Bank Holiday Monday (28 August 2023).

There are also a range of Pedigree classes for the more serious competitor and a junior handling class for young owners aged 6-15 years.

Registration takes place on the day, with all entries needing to be on the dog show arena at the front of the Community Centre by 12 noon, with judging starting by 12:30pm.

Calling all photographers!

We are looking for Brighlingsea’s photographers to fabulous photos with the Town even if they don’t want to print them and enter them to be “judged” ?

We are trying something new for the 2023 Town Show. – Would you like to share your fabulous photos with the Town but don’t want to print them and enter them to be “judged” ?

If so you can submit them to be shown as part of a digital display of photographs at the show this year.

All digital submissions must be no more than 1MB in size and sent to brightlingseatownshow@gmail.com

They will NOT be considered as “entries”

You can of course still print a hard copy of your photo and enter it in one of the schedule classes for judging in the normal way, in addition to submitting it for digital display should you wish.

We have some fantastic photographers in Brightlingsea and we would love you to be able to share your photos with as many people as possible.

All submissions digital or otherwise must be made by 5pm on 25th August 2023.

Take an expert tour of Brightlingsea’s award-winning Lozenge nature reserve

While you’re visiting the Brightlingsea Town Show on August Bank Holiday Monday, why not pop along to the award-winning Lozenge nature reserve, where experts from the British Naturalists Association will be on hand to guide you through the wonderful nature heritage to be found there.

From 11:30am to 4pm there will be a special nature trail competitions for the young people, with prizes to be won for three different age groups:

  • 12-16 year olds
  • 7-11 year olds
  • age 6 and under

TV naturalist Roger Tabor will be leading the expert team, supported by colleagues from the Cinque Port Liberty of Brightlingsea, to take people around the nature trail and help identify the wide range of wildflowers and minibeasts that are found in the reserve.

If you’ve not been before, the Lozenge can be found at the far end of the Community Centre Car Park, behind the recycling area.
